Charlie is an Assistive Technology Clinical Specialist Speech and Language Therapist with the team. Charlie’s role is to work with individuals using our service to assess and provide appropriate electronic assistive technology.
Charlie studied in Edinburgh completing a MA(Hons) in English Language and Linguistics before completing a post-graduate Diploma in Speech and Language Therapy. Since graduating she has worked in a range of settings, including schools and specialist services in England and New Zealand.
Charlie started working for the Barnsley AT team as an Assistive Technology Clinical Specialist (SLT) in June 2019. Charlie says:
“Since graduating I have worked in roles where I am able to support young people with complex needs; I love being able to support people to be able to share what they want to say, to enable them to have the skills to communicate and to be as independent as they are able to be. My commitment and determination to support people to meet their potential drives and motivates me.
I have a special interest in people with motor disorders, and supporting them to be able to access communication, environmental controls and leisure activities to maximise their independence.”
