Danni is an Assistive Technology Specialist Speech and Language Therapist with the team. Danni’s role is to work with individuals using our service to assess and provide appropriate electronic assistive technology.

Danni graduated from the University of Sheffield with an MMedSci in Clinical Communication Studies. She has previously worked as a Speech and Language Therapist in a private residential service for adults with Autism and complex needs and in a local NHS Adult Learning Disability Community Team. Danni says

“My previous clinical experience has centred around supporting adults with complex learning and social communication needs. I have always been passionate about AAC, and more generally in helping people find a way to say what they need to and be actively involved in decisions about their lives. My knowledge of how technology can support communication has rapidly increased since starting my role in Barnsley, and I have come to learn how assistive technology can increase a person’s independence in other aspects of their lives, such as remotely controlling their home environment.

I have a particular interest in supporting people with social communication needs and learning disabilities to communicate as effectively as possible and to be involved in decisions about how they want to communicate.”
