Gwenna is an Assistive Technology Specialist Speech and Language Therapist within the team. Gwenna’s role is to work with individuals using our service to assess and provide appropriate electronic assistive technology.
Gwenna graduated from Manchester Metropolitan University in 2019 with a BSc in Speech Pathology and Therapy. Before joining the Barnsley AT Team, she worked in Leeds as an NHS Speech and Language Therapist, covering early years clinics, mainstream primary and secondary schools, and working within the Leeds Communication Aid Service, offering local AAC services for both adults and children.
“I have always loved technology, and realised my interest in AAC on a university placement where I worked with a child with Cerebral Palsy who had recently received her first AAC device. Her enthusiasm about the device was contagious and I was excited to learn more. I am passionate about supporting people to meet their potential and helping them to find their voice. It’s exciting working in a field that is growing and developing all the time, and I’m committed to continuing to learn in order to best support our clients!”
