Mark is a Consultant Clinical Scientist and Professor of Health Services Research at the University of Sheffield, School of Health and Related Research. Mark also runs the Centre for Assistive Technology and Connected Healthcare at the University of Sheffield.
Mark provides Consultant level input to the service, providing oversight and expert input into the running and provision of the service. Mark also provides a link between the team and the world class Assistive Technology and Healthcare research at the University of Sheffield.
Mark set up the Assistive Technology service from Barnsley Hospital in 1988. The service, which was then part of Medical Physics department of the hospital, expanded to cover Barnsley, Rotherham and Doncaster as part of the Health Action Zone funding in 1999.
Mark started research and development projects into assistive technology from the outset of creating the service and was also head of R&D at the hospital for a period. Mark moved to set up the research group in the University of Sheffield in 2007 and has maintained a Consultant role with the service since.
